I would cook some broccoli separately. I always love this with broccoli!! I steam it about 5 minutes before serving

That is just how I was taught, mainly it allows the can to roll around for a more even cooking otherwise. If the can stands up the base of the ban may get hotter than the top of the can and hence may be cooked unevenly.

You could use this as well but you might need to cook it for less time, try and cook it for less time and check the beef periodically.

I have tried it with chicken thighs and it works very well!! I'm sure pork would work well too, you would probably use a pork shoulder.
