These days, monitoring temp is pretty easy. There are three stages: melt to 120F, cool to 80F by stirring in some reserved solid C, then gently raise to dipping temp, 90 to 110. To see the difference, https://youtu.be/p5_kheJtQO4
The last minute of the Youtube vid was very helpful. I also like the splining jig!Since you are essentially making a very wide baseplate, I would be tempted to MAKE it a basplate, and screw it directly to the router frame. It would reduce the needed "reach" for the bit out of the collet.
