I just Googled what to use as a filter for my DIY masks. The first thing that came up was the carcinogenic potential from using vacuum bags or furnace filters! The next article said to use vacuum bags. Some articles said use coffee filters or paper towels. Others said that 2 layers of cotton fabric is effective. Of course, all of them are effective "to a degree". I don't expect to be getting hospital-level protection, but now I'm thinking making the masks at all is either a waste of time or more dangerous to one's health due to what's used as filtration! SIGH!
I have been making sprouts since the 1970's using mason jars and screen tops. In all these years, I have NEVER had an issue with bacteria or mold. I run the mason jar and lid through my dishwasher before starting a new batch and made a wood frame that holds the jar at the perfect angle for draining. Sometimes I think the internet introduces us to people who worry about "everything" so we start being concerned about the "dangers" of sprouting. Relax folks...this is NOT rocket science. If it starts to smell "off" then toss your batch out, and buy your seeds from a reputable source. Great tutorial...now let's all get busy creating some healthy greens! Good luck!
Great idea. I'm passing this on to my daughter whose Yellow Lab has outsmarted (or broken) several store-bought "baby" gates. Along with the instructions everywhere on Pinterest on how to paint PVC to look like wood, this not only looks like it'd work for said Lab, but would look less industrial in their home! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the chuckle this morning. I'm all for getting out in the great outdoors as long as I have my creature comforts with me. No, this project isn't for everybody, and it DID make me laugh when I saw the air conditioner in your pup tent...BUT it's very creative and an interesting idea!
I'm a 66 year old grandma who just put a Dremel on her 2016 Christmas list. I think I'll put this on the list, too! I could make it myself, but I'm at that age where my family asks "what do you want for Christmas" and I am usually stumped as to what to ask for! Very nicely done!
