If you're just messing around and want to see what the shapes will look like with the whiteboard marker, the wax shouldn't be an issue. Once you actually want to paint, you'll need to totally rid the board of wax. Scrape it all off, then wipe the rest off with a solvent like nail polish remover. If there's even a trace of wax, nothing will stick.
Thanks for viewing! I did the same thing "in miniature" on a long skateboard I have by overlapping circles and squares and using a variety of colors. It's so much fun I almost did my car.. almost. ;)
