SOLVEDthanks to all the great advice you guys have shared. My solution was - I had 'baked' my Pi. One brand new Pi model B later, and its all working as expected. I now have graphs (although they're pointy, at least i have them !).H
Thanks for the suggestions FranciscoR152- Ii tried your pin change but still no joy.I also tried running the wiringPi pintest programme and there seems to be issues with all my pins! They all fail the test: Pretty weird !H
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve tried all the connections and tested the receiver unit with a simple LED and it’s all working. To test the script I’ve tried manually turning pin 16 high and low by connecting to the 3.3v pin but still have a straight graph sadly.
