I didn't make a pcb layout, I just followed the scheme and solder the components on the pcb prototype board that looks like in the picture attached
thanks for the heads-up, after a close inspection of the scheme and the assembly photo I realized that I have made the wrong connection in the included scheme, so if you follow it you must make the initialization as you said it.
Good job on replacing the missing parts!I was wondering why use a "small Philips head screwdriver"?! a simple "small head screwdriver" won't work? ;)

I cut the holes with my soldering iron with a thin tip, best used in a well ventilated area!
I think he got them only to make this instructable and prove the point.
Do the wires get oxidation from the electrolysis? how long do they last until you need to change them?
12V electric shock?! I doubt that anyone can feel anythingelectrons contaminated water, I think it's safe.MCU and a ultrasonic sensor could work well
doesn't 7812 require at least a 14V input? if you already feed the circuit with a 12V AC and use a rectifier diode bridge why do you still need a 12V voltage regulator (7812)?

I did but it's not finished, I used a 1602 LCD with a I2C adapter and also a OLED 128x64 with I2C interface. I'll make am instructable with both since it's almost the same. If you want more information feel free to ask, I'll do my best to answer.
