Medium Density Fiberboard
View Instructable »Good point. Maybe make a larger size peg in matching colors to lights so that placed in a hole it presses on a rocker switch to activate the same color light. Again, nice project. Keep up the good work. I am also a retired teacher. If I only had a CNC. ☹️ Can’t find one locally. As to alternatives for a CNC: using a jigsaw, saber saw, drill for holes and coping saw will work. The ends do not need to be interlocked, they can be overlapping and glued, nailed or screwed together.Best wishes.

Nice piece of equipment. It is however limited to switches and lights. Being that STEM (science-technology engineering-math) promotes thinking, it may be a good idea to provide plug-ins to complete a circuit and turn on a specific light. For example the buttons with pictures that turn on fan or color lights. The 18 month old will also benefit from being able to put parts together to create a resultant light to go on. (By the way not all can afford a CNC). Keep up the good work, our kids need guidance to succeed.
View Instructable »Using CA glue could destroy the threads as it will fill them with wood fiber. Also the hole may not be able to be retreaded by a new screw. I would suggest Elmers glue if you must. Nice project.

Thank you for your positive comment. The latch hook is safe for a 1 year old +. I can say this from my grandson’s use. The items on the board are set up for different levels. The box can be disassembled to create 4 individual boards. Any and all these boards should be used with parental supervision so as to instruct the child/grandchild in proper handling of different items. The progress your child makes, also depends on parental guidance. Thanks for your kind words.

The panels are individually made with #8 screws holding all 4 panels together. 4 toys in 1. The panels are designed to be tougher as they progress. When all 4 panels are together it gives the child an opportunity to investigate and explore. Thanks for your interest. JoeF👍
Enjoy the adventure.

If you add a carousel type elevator your idea should ??? Work. I would suggest a cardboard mock-up and maybe more than one cage because of the time it takes for the ball to roll down the rails. Let me know. Thanks again🙂
