Thanks for the complement. I actually built the table top from 3 pieces of 3/4" red oak from Home Depot that I laminated together with glue and dowel pins.

Thanks for the feedback I am glad my design is a source of inspiration. I have used silicone wire for high voltage projects in the past (>5kV), and found it to be incredibly soft and not nearly as abrasion resistance of the MIL-W-22759/16 that I am more familiar with. What vendor do you get your silicone wire from, I might get a sample to play with (i.e light on fire). Someone posted a drum set lamp just a few weeks ago that used the cymbal, here is the link: https://www.instructables.com/Drum-Set-Chandelie...Some of my friends were joking with me that my lamps looked like cymbals (que dancing monkey jokes) .Those FlexFire LEDs are expensive, but you get about the same lumens / dollar as the cheap ones on amazon, so it just comes down to how much light you need and how much surface are…

Thanks for the complements. I used two cheap srew in zip tie mounts to attach the cable to the table, the way I have them positioned i can easily adjust the length. If you want to do the same thing with out bolts, you can use bond on ziptie mounts made by click bonds: https://www.theflightshop.com/Cataspx28.html

Nice, thanks for the input. The heat was my only concern, but if that is not an issue I would say go for it with the lacquer.I like the idea of it darkening the brass. You would need to do the same to the brass shade holder and socket if you want the color to match.

Yep, I bet it would help. I saw a reference to it when I was looking up brass polish, because you are not supposed to polish over lacquer. The lamp gets quite hot, I am not sure if that can be detrimental to the lacquer.
