Hi, thanks for your question. I have used this method on 2 larger paintings 52cm x 66cm - so that's all I can comment on...After 1 year they are still intact, and have been exposed to temperatures from approx 10C up to 30C. I used 300gsm paper, with Liquitex heavy gel medium glue. I had stretched my watercolour paper before I began the painting - so I started with a very flat piece of paper - no wrinkles or bumps.I used a roller to apply the glue (wash this clean as soon as possible)Over a large area I found I had to work really quickly to make sure the glue didn't dry as I applied it.I then weighted it down with lots of heavy books, on a large picture I was able to place books right inside the frame next to the panel I had applied the glue to, and more over the entire frame to make sure …

Hi, thanks for the question.Yes,if you can find a canvas panel that is for watercolour, sounds good!I personally really enjoy the flexibility of working with paints on watercolour paper, so this method (with its risks!) is the one I prefer. Regards, Karen
thank you
View Instructable »Hi thanks for your commentYes that's an interesting point, I guess you are thinking a non water based glue from back of painting to middle paper and then gel medium from that to the wood panel board? To be honest I personally haven't had a problem with seepage in the few paintings I have mounted, and find the heavy gel medium is just that - really gloopy and not very watery like regular PVA, so it sits on the surface of my paper (reverse side of painitng) rather than being absorbed. Its all very dependent on weight of paper, how much sizing is in the paper, type of glue, so as I said in my posting - always best to create a test piece first! Many thanks, Karen

Great instructable, such fab colours, and I like your use of big bold leaves to create the patterns, works well with such vibrant colours. Good luck in the comp!
