I made a similar desk back in July 2011. Yours is a lot more detailed then the one I built. I used 2 X 2 White Oak for the legs and 1/4 inch white Oak for the sides. I used 3/4 inch strips where the door slides went and attached them to the 2 X 2 legs. The desktop is 3/4 inch White Oak. I found it a lot easier to spray stain and wipe it down with rags. To make the Groove cut for the 1/4 inch sides I used a Dado blade set since when I would use a 1/4 inch router blade it would burn out the bit rather quickly. The second photo shows where the computer tower went on the left. I did not put a back on it for ventilation reasons. To drill the holes for the wiring I used a hole saw kit for my drill. I used the hole saw door kit since there only $20. It took one sheet of 3/4 inch plywood ($85) an…

Sorry for the late reply. I used 2 X 6 X 8 foot boards for the frame and 1 X 6 X 8 foot for the top. Used 1 foot square pavers that were 2 inches thick. It ran $1.48 each for the pavers. Next project will be to extend the deck by 2 feet and get some PVC pipe so I can slide the Hot Tub Cover behind the Hot Tub.

I made mine out of 1/2 inch plywood and some laminate squares. Took about 30 minutes to make. $6.08 for the Laminate Squares and $20 for a 4 foot by 4 foot piece of plywood.

Just finished making the deck. The cost was less then $200. Contractor wanted to charge me $800 to build it. I over engineered the frame since I am putting a 2,500 pound hot tub on top of the deck. Made the deck 81 inches by 84 inches.

I am a first timer making decks. The plans seemed straight forward to me. Built it to my specifications and a lot stronger then TimBTodd did since a hot tub is going on top.

Looks easy to build to me. How much space do you give between each board on top? I will probably use more bricks and boards for the inside frame to support a 2,500 pound hot tub.
View Instructable »Will this deck hold a 2,500 pound Hot Tub? This is exactly the deck I want to build. I'm going to make it 8 foot x 8 foot like the specs. The Hot Tub is 34"H x 78" W x 78" D. The Hot Tub weighs 425 pounds empty and with 242 Gallons of water it will weight 2,500 pounds.

I have a color matching computer called a "Color Muse" which does an excellent job matching the paint. Excellent information you provided. I purchase houses that are in bad shape and rent them out once they are renovated. This method will come in handy since now I just replace the whole sheetrock panel.

Instead of using it for photos. I'm going to use it for Mobile processing of checks. To process checks quicker I'm going to build it with 3 sides instead of 4 sides. Also I will use the light on the IPhone. The only thing I need to find out is how tall I need to make the box to get the checks to process since the Bank does not allow you to zoom in on the check. Before I could afford a real scanner I used an IPhone and a program called "Turbo Scan" and made this Scanner stand. The paper is 8 1/2 X 11" on the Bottom of the scanner. The box you made will be cheaper and more portable. Mine I built for speed.

Just Completed the Skull. I used a piece of 1/4" plywood backing from a project from last Halloween so it was already painted black. Cut it with a jigsaw. I use a 1/2" drill bit in 4 places to start the nose for the jigsaw. I used 3/4" #8 self tapping screws to to hold it onto the plywood. Also used some picture frame wire in the back to hold it onto the door hanger, and painted it with white florescent paint. Keep up with the excellent projects!

I like your idea about using dowels to make the battery connectors. I am making a Raspberry PI 2 laptop and I am using a wireless touchpad that requires 2 AA batteries. Since the batteries only last two weeks at a time I need to get a better power source. I ordered an XT Power 10,000mAh battery pack that puts out 12 volts (for the monitor) and 5 volts (USB Connector for the Raspberry PI) I am going to add an L4931, 3.3 volt Linear Voltage Regulator to bring the voltage from 5 volts to 3.3 volts. Thank you for the idea!
Thank you for the excellent Idea. I have a Gas light at one of my Rental properties that will cost to much to fix. I will simply replace it with solar lighting.
