    Mixmasters , I only use a knife and sometimes a pair of scissors (no electric tools) to cut and I do have a different technic. So I take an image or photograph and made a copy one in colour and one or more in black and white. On the black and white copy I marked specific lines, shapes or shadows. I cut a shape from the copy, find a suitable piece of veneer, cut it out and paste the piece of veneer on a other copy or next to other parts of veneer. Glue them together and temporary fix them with master tape. For preventing veneer one side of the veneer is covered with thin packing paper tape and this paper I also use when underneath when parts are glue together. For buying veneer try to find some interieur builders. They might have rests of veneer which they can't use but willing to sell ...
