I'm building my onw forst house right now being a carpenter I did almost everything myself by my own. the house have 40'x30' and I planned a 30'×17' work shop in the basement I can't wait to start it!

really nice. But you said you could have paid 50£ for the steel on internet. The reason why is more expensive is because it's tool oriented steel with a high amount of carbon. like O1 steel or 1084. It will be harder after heat treatment but for show off your 2£ piece of steel is perfect! Good job
