Yes! And we live near the beach, too. Guess what I'll be making for winter this year?
That's true about the "sifting through" quality of the sand. Hmmm. What's another solution? For blocking drafts, it seems to me that the sock roll should be weighted somehow to hold it snugly against the door or window and the frame. I want to do this, (I have lots of socks!) but I don't want to attract critters. Polyfill seems too lightweight to work well.
