I accidentally post the wrong pictures. I have removed those. You don't drill all the way through. You only drill through about 1/4 inch. Now this is my second project of doing these and I used a Waterfall Bubinga laminate on the back of the first set. Adding the laminate on the back will cover any imperfections. You can attach a laminate by using contact cement and is easily cut with a band saw or even a X-acto knife. Hint: wet the laminate for easier cutting
