Perhaps you could add alternate instructions for a few alternate build options:- To leave out the downlighters- To use just USB for power, instead of mainsI understand skipping the steps where these elements are installed, but it seems like several other steps in the build would have alternate instructions as well. These seem like elements of the build a variety of people might like to change for various reasons. For example for skipping the down lights:In steps 12-13, sleeve types 2 and 4 wouldn't be used, right? Would type 2 become 1, and type 4 become 3?Also, do you think the printed shelving could handle the load if the shelf was filled with books? Around what weight do you think it could handle overall? Do you think it would fall off the wall if a cat jumped on top?

Could you add a drawing of what you do for the lid? The clear materials make it very difficult to see what's going on. A demonstration in an opaque material like a few colors of construction paper would also work. Also a diagram of the position/orientation of the hinges relative to all the sheets would help. Showing the folding process step-by-step in the first/completion step would clarify the relative position of all the parts as well.

I'm a novice when it comes to electric, so your reply is quite enlightening. So if I understand correctly, you're talking about how much power this setup draws, right? If all the lights were on simultaneously, it wouldn't be able to be full brightness white, lights would either dim or some wouldn't light up with insufficient mA.And if it was only running on one standard USB cable, it would pull even less mA than the mains cable he suggests in this build. Thanks for the input, this is interesting, though I think I'll need to study a bit more before I entirely grok it.
That's fair enough. You've written up thorough instructions here, and my suggestion is mainly just an option if you wanted to plus it a bit.It helps even just to understand that the use case you designed for is relatively lightweight. My dad always DIY way overspec so my default assumption is for shelving to hold up with as many books as can fit. I suppose a very similar build could be done with lumber if one wanted to prioritize load. Thanks for your prompt reply :)
