Most remote controls (TV, Stereo etc) use conductive rubber as a switch contact. After "years" of use this sometimes becomes a problem, either the switch doesn't work or it has to be "jiggled" to make contact. If you can disassemble the remote case, a tiny square of aluminium foil glued to the contact surface of the failing push button can resurrect the button and make it work as good as new.
HiGreat project, well done. This can be done with a Galaxy Note 3 and an OTG cable :-) Low power HDDs can be powered by the phone (I've tested up to 2gb HDD). Full interaction with ALL mounted drives/memory cards with progress display on the phone. Copying can be done directly between mounted drives, no need to copy to the phone first for later transfer to other device. This ability (except HDD power) has been available since the original Galaxy Note in 2011.kind regardsPeter
Magnets near a computer are not a problem. Magnets are used by tablet to attach keyboards or keep covers closed etc. The original problem with magnets and computers was with floppy disks. They could easily be corrupted by close proximity to a magnet.
