  • How To: Get an Egg Through a Bottleneck

another easy way of getting them out is to hold the jar with the opening downwards and then use a blow gun on a compressed air line and just blow towards the egg which will allow some of the pressurised air to pass by the egg and then it will push out the egg

Hi Don we think the same I have a piece of wood that is marked out to set the saw guide at the correct offset I also have a short piece of tapered wood that is marked from 15mm to 20mm that I use on my laser cutter/engraver as the best distance to keep the focus correct is 18mm and trying to mesure it below the laser head was a joke I kept getting it wrong until I made the guide.thanks for posting this guide I keep meaning to make one but by the time I think of it the project I am working on is complete and I have no photos to show what I did.Regards Poppy Ann.

Make a Wood Tap From a Bolt

if not perpendicular then it should slope away from the direction of thread just like most machine taps.

if you are using a bolt with the head cut off then just mount it in a electric drill get it either mounted to a bench or held solid by someone else then power up the drill and use either a file or grinder on the end to be tapered it is easy to cut a taper on the end "it is much harder to cut a flat than a taper"

    A great idea.

yes as long as it is a course thread, you can get away with one not so course when using very hard wood.

    Table Saw Fence

Hi I am in the process of building a new work bench and have an idea of building in a router system and either a bench saw or radial arm saw when I have been researching bench saws they all state that the rip fence should not go past the centre of the saw blade to prevent pinching of the blade by the work piece causing kick back or even the whole work piece being thrown across the workshop now that you have one completed have you suffered from either?Regards Poppy Ann.

  • Rino Route Belt Drive Large Format CNC Router

Hi there, a good explanation of how to build a CNC machine, one thing I did not agree with is the way you said :- (These switches can be run in parallel or in series. If they are in series then they need to be run through the "normally open" pin. If they are run in parallel then use the "normally closed" pin.)which would mean to get a response from a a switch run in series you would have to have all of the switches lifted which is backwards, if they are run in series you have to use the normally closed pin on all switches then if one is operated there is a change at the end and if they are run in parallel then you have to use the normally open pin so any switch is operated there is a change.Regards Poppy Ann.

Hi there, a great instructable for ideas. One point you never mentiond about whether to use a moving table or moving gantry is a moving table requires twice the room of a moving gantry for the same work area, I went with a moving table for the X axis and a moving gantry for the Y axis as the trouble tends to be in the gantry moving along the X axis creating movment in the whole machine.Regards Poppy Ann.

    Ultra-cheap router lift

A great instructable showing all the important parts, does using one screw to lift itnot cause it to grab the guide shafts? on my router if I do not push against both sides at the same time it just jam's on the guide shaft.I am in the process of building a router/saw table with the router fitted to one side of the table and the saw fitted to the center of the table the reason for my doing it this way is when using a router the work piece is always to one side of the cutter and when using the saw the work piece is on both sides of the table.

Whilst I also enjoy making things especially if it means I can save some money at the same time I cannot see myself spending time making something that I can buy for less when I can be spending time on other projects that either I could not afford to buy ready made or that is not available ready made I have never met any person who has more time than projects to fill it with. but I accept that there are people out there that may have more time than ideas to fill it with.

    Router Table Hack

I use to work at a company that made pressure gauges and had to drill plexi glass quite a bit and we just use to just lubricate it with paraffin and that would stop it melting and sticking to the drill, you do not need a lot just a brush dipped in and held against the bit for a couple of seconds would be enough, one other thing is too use a drill stand and slowly feed the bit in.Regards Poppy Ann.

just use a router with a circle attachment to do it.Regards Poppy Ann.

Although I know many knots the only three I tend to use are the figure eight, the bowline and the square knot I lived on my sail boat for 10 years and could do anything I needed to by using these three. One I use to insist anyone on-board knew how to tie was the one handed bowline as that was required if you fell overboard and someone threw you a line to pull you back on board and the reason for needing to tie it one handed was due to you needed to use your other hand to hold onto the line whilst you were tying it.
