This is a cool concept, though I don't think it should be worn in place of a mask.

Umm, no. The only place where you can get 100% reliable masks (sewing and no sewing) is the Centers for Disease Control website. Please:A. Don't trust masks on any open to the public sites, like Instructables or Youtube. Most of the time, the people who make them have absolutely NO medical knowledge. The CDC is edited by people who actually have been to medical school and have a good understanding of how this virus spreads.B. Don't post any PPE "DIY tutorials" for above reasons. The CDC has several mask tutorials here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/diy-cloth-face-coverings.html
Umm, no. Don't trust the online mask patterns from anywhere, especially Instructables and Youtube, as anyone can edit them. The only place where you can be sure to find good mask patterns is on the Center for Disease Control website: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/diy-cloth-face-coverings.html Many of the posts on Instructables and Youtube are made just for getting popular on these sites and winning contests. Go to the 3d Printed contest, a quarter of the entries were 3d printed facemasks. There are so many mask patterns on the internet, but please just use the ones reccamended by the CDC.
