No, you will need a 240V. relay

No, you will need a relay to do that. That is the subject for my another tutorial. Wait for my next tutorial(the better version of clap switch).

man, you could have simply used an Arduino uno or Arduino nano. You didn't have to do all this hard work.It would be quite simple with Arduino because you only needed the moisture sensor and An Arduino nano and an ESP 8266 to make this project.

By the way which model boost converter did you use and is it variable? And what is it's minimum and maximum current limit? Hope you answer:)
I see,you used a boost converter to step up/step down the voltage.(nice thinking cuz if you used a LM7805 Voltage Regulator, then it would not be efficient).

I am very sad to say that I cannot upload instructables for some time cuz my Arduino nano got burned when I was working on my new project.

I think 10k pot should also work flawlessly.
very nicely explained! Thanks!
