This is a beautiful tutorial, and quite useful, however I was hoping to take my mask-making experience in a slightly different angle...The idea I am striving for is to make a cast of my bust, or at least of my face so that I can build custom, form fitting masks right off of a copy of my head. Some of the ideas I have wrap around my scalp, some are half masks, and some even come with a detachable lower jaw. What I am wondering is if paper mache would be a good medium to use in order to transfer the details of my face onto a negative copy, or if it's limited in retail retention.
I read your article on MAKE and came here because I have been having problems building my heron fountain... So far, using the diagram you have shown as well as the classic saucer and round bottle picture related to this project, I was wondering something.... Would this work if you reversed the functions of bottle 2 and 3?In other words, I wanted to put the tank where the fountaon feeds from (bottle B) at the very bottom so I can try a few alterations on the resevoir (bottle C) and the fountain (bottle A).... Lile adding a couple different layers of varying sizes on the fountain....However, with not many sources to read on the reasonning for why Heron' fountain is built that way, I chose to ask you.... Can the resevoir be higher than the tank?
