I almost thought, I shouldn't even write up an Instructable for such a simple project, but the impact on the photo is crazy! (and it well fits into the 1-hour challenge :-D )
And your pictures always look so good with it! Side note to others, using a matte spray on a workspace isn't the best idea, as it would likely come off with regular use, but it's very beneficial for photo backdrops to decrease shine (since I don't know how to edit out glare!).
View Instructable »HOW could I forget Etsy sellers?! This is such a good point, I need to add it into the Instructable. And yes! That's a great idea to add it to posterboard. It would provide a little sturdiness, but also remove the seam line. This is great for people who don't move their photo station. I like the foam board sturdiness so I can take it anywhere and lean it up against things rather than attach the softer posterboard to a wall everywhere I want to take a picture. Thanks for the ideas!

Thanks for reading!
View Instructable »Ahh, you're basically the queen of awesome marble backgrounds. You don't ever seem to have a glare problem. Maybe because you photograph so close up? Or you have non-glossy contact paper? Either way, it looks good whatever you did; I'm always inspired!

It's so interesting you say this. My whole life I've heard, "people used to use lard, but they don't anymore because it's so bad for you." So I've kept with that mentality. But yeah, you're right! Compared to vegetable shortening, it is "better" for you. Once the contest is over (I don't think I can edit during), I will add that you can use lard. Thank you for pointing this out! And right? I like your apple pie meal choices. However we won't mention having bourbon for breakfast.... :)
It doesn't even give it an overly smoked flavor, which is good. Just a neat, different way to cook a pie. Especially during a BBQ party.
It is definitely a conversation piece! While coming up with ideas, it started with, "ok, let's smoke a pie." Then it was, "let's put bacon on said pie." Then it was, "how can we make this even extra? Whiskey."
View Instructable »I was TOTALLY going to photograph this with a slice of cheese on top. But I thought, listen. Isn't it weird enough with the bacon?! But your girlfriend is right. Apparently cheddar cheese on apple pie is a thing. I mean... cheese and bacon is a thing, so I should make it happen.

Haha, I appreciate you saying that! There seems to be a battle between boiled or fried. I wanted "extra comfort" for this comfort food challenge (so I fried), but I definitely encourage people to try them before frying to see which taste they like better! And yes, I think doing everything by hand makes them more special, and the dough somehow turns out better when kneaded by hand. But hey, I wanted to use my new garage sale mixer to test it out. :)
Thanks for posting! I should add this into the Instructable :)
Exactly. Basically they are - universally - just dumplings. The big differences are the types of dough or wrappers used and the fillings. And then do you boil, bake, or fry. All in all, comforting. :)
View Instructable »Hey ohhh! What a great idea. I think cream cheese and strawberry or raspberry preserves sounds divine. They would basically be a mini pie. Maybe with a little powdered sugar on top?

- Whitney Fabre commented on Whitney Fabre's instructable Instant Pot Thanksgiving Side DishesView Instructable »
They are surprisingly easy! Not only for Thanksgiving but for everyday meals. The only recipe I don't recommend or easiness and tastiness is the green bean casserole; I'd rather use cream of mushroom and bake it. My favorites are the stuffing and potatoes!

Hey, that's fantastic! And yes, the first time is tough because you're looking at pictures, but it will gets easier after the first. Thanks for giving it a go!
- Whitney Fabre commented on Whitney Fabre's instructable Kansas City Brisket & Burnt Ends
Oh my goodness... can you imagine how terrible it would be IF it only asked for 1/4 tablespoon of salt and you put 1/4 cup? blech! (but it does ask for 1/4 cup salt, so you're good.) Thanks for seeing that. Fixed! Best of luck. Hope it turns out tender for you. Smoke low and for a long time, and try not to go over 200 degrees F with the flat. If it cooks too quickly, smoke at like 160 for many hours; that should tenderize it. An easily inserted and removed thermometer is key. Take a picture if it works out!
