Thank you, Andrew, for the extensive, and informative, reply to my questions, and for the video you referred. I did watch it, and left him a question. It seemed that his disk (he used the term: pancake), needed the assistance of log wood to keep it 'alive,' and I was wondering if 'his' product could be used alone. You mentioned your confidence in yours. This stuff fascinates me. I have scouting experience since 10, up to leader status in my 20's, and fires were always an important part of camping. (Of course, now, any camping I do is accomplished via Comfort Inn or similar 'campgrounds.' lol).

I love this DIY project/life-style use of existing, yet end-of-the-line house/shop disposable! How long does a brick burn? Are they stable as to brick status, i.e. do they hold together well? I'm just so impressed by this! What's the fire like as it burns? How many do you use at a time? This is something every homeowner with a fireplace should practice. Can it be used in a grill? Are there unsafe fumes that would affect the food being grilled? I'm just so fascinated by this. Thank you for bringing it here! : )

I might just try this. Living frugally, this would be welcome as the price of bread is obscene! I try to stock up when I go to the Dollar store! However, it does take up alot of freezer space when I do that. YOUR idea would preclude that problem. Your 'slices' could be used for sandwiches, wraps, hot dog rolls, etc. Yes, I'm definitely going to give this a whirl! THANK YOU for sharing with us! : )

Well, the one I mentioned in my initial comment: Scotchgard Fabric and Upholstery Spray, common to find in the USA, (I'm not sure where you live), and also available from Amazon if you can't find it locally. OR...go to a local fabric goods store, or craft store, etc. Ask what they know about that will help you, but I'd really try to find the Scotchgard product. (be aware that there are a few different kind of Scotchgard products...try for the one I mentioned here. Good luck. : )

I don't see a Philly Cheesesteak happening in your video. I was born in Philly and quite familiar with what it is; enjoyed them all my long life. If you want to call a rose, a duck, that's fine. But there's a whole city who actually 'know' what a true Philly Cheesesteak is. What you have looks fabulous and tasty, ...just NOT a Philly Cheesesteak.....a fantastic BEEF FAJITA to be more accurate. Thanks for making my mouth water for a beef fajita! lol, I see you're a 'Majesty' as well...hmm....I wonder how one queen addresses another? She was definitely before her time; a real fury! (Laughing). I have no experience with marking a metal container. How about placing a small Sharpie 'dot' on one, or the entire notation. It certainly wouldn't harm metal; I'm just not knowing if it will smudge or wash off. Let us hear your results?? Thanks!
- YourMagesty commented on EmilyM150's instructable DIY SHARPIE MUGView Instructable »
Love it! I found out about this delight, and used the Sharpie to mark the sides of my Corning Ware baking dishes with the capacity, such as 1 Qt, 2 1/2 QT, etc. Now, nested, and capacity notes clearly showing (under one of the side handles), and all visible in a second, I can quickly see which dish I'm looking for. (Corning puts the note on the exterior bottom, in a very difficult-to-read small, fade'able way. This doesn't wash off, at least with hand-washing it. : )

My mom, who raised her 7 sibs (and herself) following their mother's early death, when mom was in 11th grade, and who raised 5 of her own kids, as well as 2 in-house grandchildren, used to run water on a bottle nipple, let it drip off, dunk the tip in the sugar bowl..lightly, then added water to the bottle and capped it when a baby got the hic-cups. The baby would suck the sugar as well as the bottle of plain water, and WA-LA...no more hics! (Can't beat experience like that)!(I miss her). : (
