My mother also made this but without the apple. She fried onions and would mix it into the pork fat as it was cooling. Also said that taste was better if pork was from a female pig. Spread on some rye bread it was absolutely delicious, or for frying eggs or cold potatoes - my mouth is salivating! I suppose if health is an issue, cook this and enjoy, but do not eat any butter/dripping etc until all the pork is gone?

can I waterproof a backpack? Recently bought one with material I assumed was waterproof -as all my other backpacks were waterproof. However, I am in a poorer country where some products do not have information on their sales tags. So caught in a steady downpour with the result of 2 books getting soaked, as other minor items. Plus its new, don't want to ruin the whole look. The material is some thickish synthetic. Looks waterproof, but not. Also foam under straps etc., I don't want to dissolve any part of the backpack. Also will have to use a paint thinner to dilute the silicon. will that do? I don't need to worry about pieces sticking to each other as can apply it bit by bit to parts on the outside only.
well, finally in my 72nd year I may be able to do this bracelet. Always felt such a klutz when my primary school aged daughter (maybe 8 or 9 years old!) made these by the dozen! She tried to teach me then, but no go. You know,there are always some things in our lives that we want to achieve before we "leave". For me this is one of them. Plus your instructions are so clear. Wonderful idea. Plus so easy. Will certainly try it on a couple of jackets. Re Velcro use - might be fiddly to ensure both sides match in whole jacket. However, I have used it in the front zip section of female trousers with great success. Removed old zip (too fiddly for me to replace zip properly) and thought of taking it to professional dressmaker, (or throw them out) when I thought of velcro - cut the length, sewed on both pieces and pressed one side onto velcro and it holds wonderfully well. So pleased with myself - slacks are good for another couple of years.
I started making my own health crackers after I read the ingredients in what I thought was a good product. I use all types of flour, mixed with oil and water, rolled out and baked. Taste is good especially if I have 2 flours (buckwheat and rice, for instance) as well as adding couple drops of toasted sesame oil, or pumpkin oil, as well as adding sesame seeds, crushed peppercorns, pumpkin seeds (crushed a bit), sunflower seeds - sprinkled over the top and rolled into the pastry. Variety is almost endless. I do not eat gluten free for health reasons, but sometimes simply because of the different taste. And I am not able to source all the ingredients for more variety in my cooking, so do the best with what I have. I love knowing that I have cooked a relatively healthy food and it does...

Will try to cocoon cardigan tomorrow! I have a wool/acrylic knit skirt (straight sided) and if I unpick it, will have a very handy "warmer" to wear over clothes for indoor use. What I like about the design is no fuss (I am over 70 and do not need fringes, dangley bits hanging off clothing etc., getting in the way of doing things in the house. Benefit of warmth on my back, and surely I can curl up on sofa and curl my arms back into the sleeves to be truly comfy! Looking forward to sitting like this and watching tv.thank you for this pattern.

Yes, this does look good, and love the pockets. A current version of my apron needs the following - large bulldog clip! and large old blouse!! - Wrap the collar area around neck, hold it together with bulldog clip, wrap sleeves somewhere around waist area! I have been promising myself a home sewn apron...perhaps your effort will spur me!!
I use wheat, it has good weight. I use any thick material such as corduroy or heavy cotton. Have made odd shaped pads for different areas of body - 6cm x 6cm size is good for just placing on top of shoulder, or stomach, or even feet (when watching tv etc), plus 5xm x 13cm approx is used for lower back (wedge between chair and body) and have also sectioned off longer ones that tie around waist (for back). First effort I overfilled and found it hard to use. And it is a good idea to make a covering so original pack does not get grubby- which unfortunately I have not done yet. How marvellous - love it! I've had to get rid of my vast collection of books now, and would not have had the space for this wonderful bookshelf anyway- yours is truly fantastic! As a mother, I thought it important for my girls to learn to use tools at an early age (with all safety procedures) - and they always had bookshelves in their bedrooms so that "their" special books would not get mixed up with the rest. Just love books and bookshelves!. You have my vote of course.

Hello to all, have read instructions and comments, and will make some soon. Love garlic!! However, was wondering whether the liquid is of any use? salty and garlicky flavour - is it possible to sip this? surely lots of probiotic is in the liquid?An aside - made salted/fermented cherry tomatoes recently - taste is unusual - very juicy but edible (hubby only ate 1!!!!) - another friend preferred the liquid! . A slight white skin forms on top which I have skimmed off- apparently normal part of pickling/fermenting/whatever - this is not mould.
Looks lovely for the cat to enjoy. Unfortunately I don't have the space and my cat destroys the single largest cartons I put out for him. But has fun whilst demolishing.
Sounds easy - however my cat is large and at times vicious when "stalking" his string toys. Has demolished many mice right down to their plastic cores - all gone - string cover, tails, velvet covers, etc. etc. Even hot glueing again only lasts a few days play.However, this will save me money! Will definitely make it. thank you.
Hello and thanks for this idea. I am living in Europe at the moment (ex Australia) and the dust inside the flat is unbelievable!!!! Replacement covers are so so expensive, that I will definitely make not only 1, but 2! One to use when other being laundered.thanks again.
