Potters Kick Wheel
CNC Router Operation
The nichrome wire gauge can be anything between 0.1mm to 0.5mm. Thinner wire offers a more precise cut, as long as it is kept very tight.

I don't have a calliper right now to measure the gauge precisely, but I think it's around 0.5mm in diameter. If the wire is longer, yes, you'll need more amps coming from your power source. My wire was about 30cm long and the 1A adapter was barely fit for the job. The longer the wire, the more power you'll need. You'll probably need to experiment a bit yourself with the wire length depending on the power source you find.
