    ESP8266 Artnet to DMX

I have succeeded to have it working. Two problems :1. The GND of course2. The hot and cold where swappedI don't know why i had to swap the hot and cold wires, i double checked your diagram and the pins on the XLR plug and i believe i soldered them correct in the first place. Any ideas ?

Would it make sense to use the ESP8266 instead of the atmega ? I mean that way there was a way to change address without dip switches. I guess the best way would be to make the ESP8266 an artnetnode like you made in the other tutorial and then send the signals dirrectly to the strips without the need of MAX485, maybe that's what you are doing with the ws2812 ? Also the octocoupler 6N137 is this your FET ? Do you have the eagle file that you could post for this ? If you still have it. I understand you build 4 of these so you can control 20 strips but i guess you only use 17 (you wrote you have 17 fences) so you have 3 left you could control. Is that correct understood ?

maybe the problem is that i dont share the same ground for both 3.3 and 5v ?

Hey,Yes the "Run as admin" did the trick, now i can see in the serial monitor that it receives packets from DMX workshop however i still can't get the PAR lamp to work. I double checked many times the connection to the MAX485 but still it doesn't work. As you can see on the picture i use the ESP12E modules and i use D4 as i can see that should be the GPIO2. It the same that is being used by the LED on the ESP8266 board and that lights up when packs has been sent from DMX workshop so i think everything is ok in the ESP8266, the problem probably lies in the MAX485. Any ideas what that might be the problem ? I believe the lamp is set correct. One thing that i think it was kinda weird was that the 5V regulator on the powersupply was very hot indicating some kind of a short circuit...

I then measured between VIN and GND on the MAX485 just to see if i f... it up but it does not seem short-circuited. Maybe it is burned but i dont know how to measure it. I disconnected the lead from the ESP8266 to the MAX485 then i touched it then the PAR lamp started to light up. I don't know if that indicates enough that MAX485 is indeed still working.

    ESP8266 Artnet to DMX

Hi,I am trying to make this work, i have flashed my ESP-12E and configured it but the various software for example DMX Workshop and ArtNetominator has problems finding the node. I tried with a iOS app aswell and that could not find it either. I turned on the VERBOSE and i can see Artnet Poll Received, Sending Artnet Reply but never the less the software does not identify the node. Anyone experienced this ? On my windows machine i tried to diasble firewall and antirivirus in case it blocks for something.

Are you sure it's 100nF and not 100uF ? I am curios can you take a picture if it's not too much hassle ?

Hi,I believe the diagram is wrong when it comes to the caps icon. You state 100nF but there are no polarized caps in that size so the diagram should show a non polarized cap no ?

I would love WS2812 support, That means you can control 128 single LEDs (you would need 4DMX channels) on one universe. I was thinking to put WS2812b strips around the house, like 60led/per meter and i have 25meters so that would be 1500leds = 12 universes hmm....i have no idea if freestyle can handle that many. I guess you probably run into Artnet probles/timing or other weird stuff problems not mentioning power supply needed. Maybe making sections instead is better so let's say each 10leds use 4 DMX channels so that means you would only need 2 universes.
