I'm an environmental biologist who doesn't always have enough time or energy to make the stuff he'd like to make. I enjoy the outdoors, geocaching, kayaking, and playing around with mapping/GIS applications. I also like to make jewelry, but don't have any jewelry Instructables. I plan to change this.

You can overlay and use several KMZ custom maps at once as long as you don't exceed the file size or tile limits explained in Step 1. They can even overlap each other - a higher "draw order" value set in KMZFactory or Google Earth will cause a layer to be drawn over other layers. However, all KMZs will be displayed as fully opaque on the GPS even if you make some semi-transparent in Google Earth, I just tried. You can also turn individual custom maps on and off on the GPS under Setup Map > Map Information > Custom Maps
I really can't say for sure, but here are some things that immediately come to mind that might be causing your issue:- Did you deselect the "Progressive" option when you saved the JPEG?- Is your image file actually a JPEG? I believe you can make KMZs with other image formats, but only a JPEG will work on the GPS- Did you select the "Convert to LatLonQuad" option in Google Earth to help line up the overlay? The map won't work on the GPS if you do this.Sorry it's taken so long for me to get you a response, hope this helps.
