I really want to recycle bottles. I will try it during the next month probably. As you mention, reducing them into small pieces will be the most challenging part!
PLA plastic is really hard, and I wouldn't wear sandals made with PLA, but there are other types of plastic that are softer, and it could be made.
The laser cutting machine has a very big filter, and we cut acrylic sheets with it. We haven't seen any difference. There are some plastics that CANNOT be laser cut, such as PVC. We started using PLA as it's a very forgiving plastic when melting it, and it doesn't release a bad smell when melt. Many more tests should be done, but making a safe process is a key aspect for us. Small tests will be done with other types of plastic, and we're in contact with the laser cutter machine distributor who can answer many of our questions before laser cutting any new plastic! :D
The issue with a frying pan is that you also need a heating element, which shouldn't be an issue if you're in your house. With the oven, we get the whole pack at a very low price, which is one of our goals.Concerning the window glass process, making windows glass of any type with a consistent thickness is a highly expensive and complex process. Even 3D printer manufacturers have issues sourcing bed glass with a consistent thickness. Our process is not the best, but it's the cheapest we could find. Of course, if you already have access to some cool tools, you may be able to make plastic panels with a better thicknes, and we would love to hear about it!
I never thought about it. It's a very good idea, but I'm concerned it may not fully work as the plastic panels need to cool down while being pressed. Al the panel must be pressed when being cooled down. Any other way has resulted in warped panels.
I love Precious Plastic, and this project is the results of trying to make a simple and easy approach to Precious Plastic. I even talked to Dave Hakkens and got featured on their Instagram!I also shared this Instructable on their forums!https://davehakkens.nl/community/forums/topic/plastic-smoothie/

Hi Misan. I'm going to make this 4xiDraw (modifying some parts to change it visually) and after reading the Thingiverse comments I have one question. You don't use endstops, just push it manually. Would it be possible to add endstops to the CNC Shield?Muchas gracias por compartir el proyecto y gran diseño!
Thank you very much! It will be some weeks before I can start this remix project, but I will make sure everyone know you're responsible for 99% of the project.
