Tell us about yourself!
I beveled the front edges of all the steps, and eventually got bored enough to make a jig on the table saw and cut them closer to 30 degrees. Much easier to tell when I'm at the top. I also cut a piece of 1x2 to correctly space them apart.
One note, what most people and hardware stores in the US call lag bolts are usually actually screws, no nuts, so a 3/8 lag screw in a 1/2 inch hole would not work. A carriage bolt would work with the right size hole for the head, or a hex head bolt (called a hex head cap screw in industrial supply, but most homeowners will call it a bolt). I realize this isn't likely to be the first project someone does, so they'll probably know what they want to buy.
Can you give an example of how you're using the smart power strip, and what's smart about it? The demo seems to show a Pixar lamp and a fire extinguisher, and I don't see a problem/solution type of explanation.
