Wood Whittling 101
the scary thing about this is i can't tell if you saying this is meant to be satire or not.
I've been thinking of making a whittling knife out of an old pruning shear blade if I sharpened it would i still need to tamper the steel, is it the right type of steel, thanks in advance.
my first thought for improvement is adding a "safe mode". maybe you could make the blade thinner and fold it into the handle, I don't know. my next thought is a locking mechanism that I've seen on shovel/pickaxe that folds together, I probably won't explain this well but, here goes, there is a piece of metal that has a square end and a round end, it has a powerful spring in it which is attached to the handle, the hole that it fits through is square but when you push it up the circle area unlocks and let's you fol the blade up or down then you let go and the spring locks it into place putting the square edges back on. if i can get an image of this I will share it here.
l don't quite understand how to put in the locking mechanism. maybe you could post a video on it so I can see it happening, that would be really helpful, cheers in advance.
