I think another element of "error" in accuracy is that you hold the tape forming a spiral alling length to the measurement. If you added a tab to the zero point you would not have to do this and that issue would be further minimized.Brilliant idea!!! I've never seen it before (and I'm pretty old) it should be added as a scale on all tape measures.
Great 'ible, but a couple of thoughts.1. The first step in all this should be testing the water for contaminants, e-coli, etc. An awful lot of work was shown ahead of this ve4ry simple step.2. It seems to be that eventually (which may be a week, month, year or never the gravel "silt" filter will become blinded. With no way to backwash you are left with an awful lot of gravel to move and wash. Any thoughts?Again, great 'ible.
I believe what you are thinking of is a generator. The end of he rotor rubs against the edge of the tire. Terrible tech. The faster you went the harder is was to pedal. Stick with batteries IMO.
If these are of interest I will give it a go.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the bank of parallel solar panels need only be wired into one voltage regulator (car charger, ic7805, or whatever).
