Simple Secret Box V: Gift Box Edition

Hi.Do you know what strength the magnets were.N42 have 27kg pull strength and N35 have 21kg pulling strength and I guess it would make a difference as to whether the tap would make it release. Thanks

  • Simple Raspberry Pi Camera Trap Made From a Food Container

Hi,Recently returned home and tried , as recommended, and found that it was the data ribbon that was at fault. So now it recognises the camera and it automatically initiates the camera when IP address is called. The problem now is that it is running MotionEye and not MotionEyeOS consequently none of the advance settings are available, so cant set up camera with dat/time or initialise for WiFi. It appears that you cant upgrade for MotionEye to MotionEyeOS but have to do a complete install. So I thought I would try your second suggestion and followed link at the bottom of your reply. Reformatted SDcard and clean installed Raspian and followed instruction from link and copied and pasted all the instuctions as listed and I am getting errors on a number of the actions. I am trying to build your project using a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ and the camera you suggested. I have downloaded the right image file and flashed it to the SD card. The Pi boots up and I am able to see the install in my browser. The first MotionEye screen after logging in says 'you have not configured a camera yet. Click here to continue. It then shows this screen (see image). The first two if you select show under 'Camera' (no cameras). The others do not seem appropriate for this the project. What am I doing wrong. Thank you.

On the build I have gotten up to Step 3 and the camera is working. Have followed Step 3 but the rc-local script doesn’t run on reboot. I have installed ImageMagick and I have checked to code several times but keep getting this error message in reboot.[ 22.823744] rc-local [301]: Invalid command line option (convert) [FAILED] Failed to start /etc/rc-local Compatibility.Do you know what I am doing wrong. thank you.

I am a complete electronics newbie but I have got to have a go at making this. To help me can you give me the Digikey part number for the Cap Alum 100uF's you used. Thanks

    3D Printed Watch Winder (ATtiny85+Stepper)

Electronic components have arrived and now trying to program Attiny. When you say create new AVR C project does it matter what you call it as you didn't specify in instructions. Thanks

    3D Printed Watch Winder (ATtiny85+Stepper)

Thanks for th reassurance. Have finished 3D print and looking good. Just waiting for electronic components to arrive. Thanks for your help.

Hi,Sorry, but as I said I am completely new to this and nothing abut coding and very little about electronics but your project looked so cool and I need a watch winder. Have now compiled your code without any errors but there were some warnings, see Pic. anything to worry about?

    3D Printed Watch Winder (ATtiny85+Stepper)

    Thanks Simone

H, sorry to be a pain but this is all new to me. Just installed Atmel Studio. Clicked on New - project but can't find ATtiny85 on drop down list. What am I doing wrong, please?

Sorry, its me again. Trying to build the AVR C project as described and I am using Atmel Studio 7. I copied the code as stated and hit 'build' but it is showing 14 Errors. Took a screen shot, any ideas?

Still printing out and hit one snag, when printing the Central-Holder my 3D printer seemed to think the wedge shaped lugs were not connected to the main body and printed them out not attached but on their own support structure. Guess its just a blip with my slicer software or the way my printer interpreted the code. So had to 'glue' them on. Also, in the first picture on the first page it looks like there is a metal plate down inside the body, what is this?

Thank you for your quick response. I don't mean to be picky but I thought you might want to know that now both capacitor links now go to the same thing.

I am 3D printing the parts as we speak and have ordered some of the components via the links but when I click on the 10uF link it links to a ATtiny85 component in Ebay. I am completely new to electronics so I need help as to a) what this component might look like and where I might source it in the UK. Can anybody help please.

  • Balloon Powered Single Cylinder Air Engine Toy Train

Nice model and I was keen to print it. I use a Qidi Tech 1 printer and I had some issues. It needs .3xg format files, not standard Gcode, so I had to use the Makerware slicer set to use Makerbot Replicator Dual format and I don't know if that was causing the issues. It didn't like printing out at .1 vertical resolution but I did get clean prints at .2 but that may have upset the 'tolerances'. Anyhow, every 'joint', circular or rectangular were way to tight and needed extensive filing. This meant that there was more room for error in the fit or slightly miss aligned fit. The model did go together well but due to the slight inaccuracy of tolerances, which when multiplied by the number of inter-dependant moving parts, meant that there was no way a balloon was going the drive this thing. The model did go together well but due to the slight inaccuracy of tolerances, which when multiplied by the number of inter-dependant moving parts, meant that there was no way a balloon was going the drive this thing. Even blowing as hard as I could I couldn't get the wheels to turn. I commend you on an excellent model and at owning an obviously superior printer. My model doesn't run by air power but my grandson still loves pushing it along and watching the crankshafts rotate. Good job.

There is nothing to be sorry about, it is my problem not yours. I have found from m experience that if I build a model using Fusion 360 the finished dimensions when I print it out do not match those on the drawing so there is obviously an issue there too but I no know to allow for that when I create something in Fusion which has to match a particular size when printed. Yours is such I nice model I might try opening the files in Fusion and adjust the 'holes' in the model pieces so I don't have to file or trim so much off. I would love a 'wind up' version of this train but I fear I might experience similar issues. Again, great model. I will post a picture of the finished model as it does look very nice.

Cant open STL files in Fusion360 so it looks like I am going to have to wait for the 'Wind up' version.

    Objet 3D Printer Fit Tests

Sorry I might be missing something here but on the 'Tenon Bar' description it says there are Ten Tenons but the model shows Eleven? Also, .230 to .250 in increments of .002 is ten increments therefore 11 tenons but .420 to .500 in .002 increments is way, way more than ten increments.
