Glad it's helpful :) Honestly, once I started using hand planes...I would now never use an electric planer unless no other option was available to me. And the older planes are the best, in my experience. The process can look a bit intimidating, but it's really pretty straightforward. Have fun with it. It's very satisfying bringing an old tool back to life.
Mushrooms Duo - BirdHouse and Feeder (3D Printed)
Sometimes I really wish I had a 3D printer! This is very cool, and love the organic design!
What the wow. Amazing work. I can see how much your son loves it.
Cool build, but I would avoid varnish and anything else with chemicals in it for the safety of the birds. When I build mine I use a coating of raw linseed on the outside and beeswax.
Like a sweetheart :) I contemplated adding the sharpening to the instructable but there are folks on Youtube that describe this process in detail. As for the red paint, on the next one!
Yeah, asphaltum is pretty difficult to get in NZ in small quantities. I considered it, but I wanted to make the process accessible to the average woodworker.

Antique Monkey Wrench Restoration
Great job! That was a lot of rust, haha. Never seen thread restoration before.
Thanks a lot!
Hah. On the right day, it just tends to magically appear :p
I'm still learning a lot myself, one tool at a time. I am sure your friend will greatly appreciate your effort.
I look forward to seeing them :) I always thought the Bakelite addition's were more recent? Could it be someone replaced the original? The number 3 is one I still have to acquire!
Hah, no freaking out on my part. Tools are meant to be used, even though some people collect them for pleasure, and that's fine, too.
Yeah, they definitely differ in small ways sometimes. Good idea on the photos.
Thanks very much! Very satisfying being able to bring back to life perfectly good tools and use them.
