Let me just add that my 36 years as a Master Sommelier, should be proof enough. ...
No I'm kidding I'm just repeating what I had heard from a Master Sommelier years ago. I'm sure he was talking about those XX year old vintages that cost thousands of dollars. I fairness the principles are sound and just wanted to share. As you mentioned you drink a lot of wine and it probably doesn't sit around very long. On the other hand, all that being said the one thing that would make a difference you would be able to read the labels of the bottles with the design change that alone might be a worthwhile modification.Like I said I like the project well done!Jim
Nice project, INHO you should modify the design so that the bottles are neck up. 1) Wine should be stored neck up at an angle such that the wine completely covers the cork. As bottles of wire are stored if the cork is allowed to dry out the wine will be ruined. Believe it or not this is why wine bottles are shaped the way they are. Your design does this very well. BTW this still holds true for twist cap wines. 2) Wine often has some sediment. When stored upside down all the sediment ends up at the neck of the bottle. When you retrieve the wine the sediment ends up wafting through the wine and takes a very long time to completely reach the bottom of the bottle. This results in the sediment being poured in your glass, not very good. Stored neck up (it's also a good idea Label up) if you d...

This results in the sediment being poured in your glass, not very good. Stored neck up (it's also a good idea Label up) if you don't shake it up a lot all the sediment will be at the bottom of the bottle where it should be. when you pour your wine keep the label up so the sediment doesn't get disturbed and you'll always have a very clean pour.3) with the label up you neck up it's easier the see which bottle your getting. The FIX I think you should either get rid of the supports you put in back of the holder or probably better place them the exact opposite of where they currently are (although I think I misunderstood how/where the supports are placed.) The other option would be to use a slightly smaller hole the weight of the bottle should keep it place even if bumped hard.
