I'm thinking of cheating and just using pre-made Pillsbury cinnamon dough and rolling on a stick! Carrying just a roll of pastry dough to the woods leaves more room for beer :)

Could I bake or broil these vs. frying with the oil? Frying looks yummy, but baking seems less messy.

Looks good - like the handle spiral. Not sure I would call the contrasting wood an "inlay" though. To me, inlay means embedding thin strip of contrasting wood into the surface of main object. This was more of a sandwich. I'm going to follow your directions and make one for myself. Thanks!
