Have you tried dusting the mold with the GitD powder, similar to the cold casting method for which metallic powders are used? Would it be a thick enough layer to glow?

Have you tried using glow in the dark (not black light) powder? I’m tempted to try butworry it’ll be a waste. If I get the courage I’d like to try it but sure would love to find guidance. Thank you for your ible. I love the open mouth.

I would be confident using any resin that says something to indicate it is crystal or glass clear.
View Instructable »Beautiful design. I’m excited to try this. I build miniature furniture so I’m sure I have plenty of wood to choose from. One addition to your excellent ible: if you put your bezel on packing tape (sticky side toward the pendant) you might not have to sand as much on the back. Maybe. When doming both sides you might not have to sand at all if your tape is smooth and sticks well. Plasticine clay is another excellent tool for plugging up any holes when casting resin. Plasticine is just a smooth clay that never dries out. It is really handy for holding small parts, though obviously not as tight as a clamp.

That’s what I came to the comments for. Thanks for asking my question so I indulge my “need” for instant gratification. :D

I have some silicone finger tips (squishy heat-resistant thimbles) intended for hot glue. I will have to try those with paracord. I saw someone, somewhere, use heat shrink tubing for a similar purpose. It would be easier to thread the cord through, and I’m just guessing/hoping it takes less heat to shrink the tube than to melt the cord. I love the tidy appearance of your solution.

Wow! Thanks for testing that for all of us. I’m sorry it was not only unsuccessful but also a waste of a grinder. Kudos for thinking of the negative effects on the water system. You are a good steward of this pretty blue orb. x

I am really impressed at how great these look. Clever use of inexpensive, readily available materials too.I have grand plans to make custom silicone molds (clear 100% silicone caulk and cornstarch, which I’ve heard stinks to high heaven so it is best done outside)I’ve not dabbled with pony beads. Would there be any advantage to smashing them up before melting them? I’m wondering if that would reduce the bubbles. I’m curious if the translucent and glittery beads, together or separate from the opaque beads, are any different to work with (regarding bubbles and drilling). Thanks for this clever project.

Here’s a pdf about grinding the beads in a coffee grinder. Interesting idea.
