What test file is used in Step 9?
What image is being displayed in Step 9?
In step 9 you refer to the 'Test Picture' - what is it? Is it one of the images in the image zip? I have tried these and none look like the pictures. I just want to be sure my ring is spinning at the needed speed.
I have my globe running but I am not convinced the images are being displayed correctly. I am using Cluso's Propeller board. I have made the changes for the clock speed that he recommended but the image seems to only be on half of the globe (front only). The LEDs are on for the entire globe just not displaying the image. As a test I made an image (.bmp) file of black and white squares instead of a world map. Again only the front half shows the pattern while the back is on but not showing the image. Are there any other adjustments needed to the software to run Cluso's card?Thanks
I have built the globe and have the Propeller board working. I made a few mods to your design - mostly using a Mercotac Slip Ring for the power to the ring. All was good until I tried turning the ring with the motor you recommended in your text from Hobby King. It does not have enough torque to spin the ring connected to the Slip Ring. Have you used a higher torque motor that you could recommend ? Hobby King has 100's to choose from, but I am not well versed in brushless motor specifications....Thanks
I am getting close to assembly and my question is how do you align the LED rings? Does it matter if the first LED is at the top of the clock for the minutes. Same for the hour ring - does it need to be aligned so the first LED in the ring is up at the 12 o'clock position? Or do you just set the time until the LEDs align with the right time?
Great build. It is always nice to see a project where the woodworking is as detailed and attractive as the electronics. I usually spend as much time on the presentation as the ‘show’. Nice job.
In Step 6 on placing the LED strips on the ring.....one side is easy - the gap between LED 16 and LED 17 splits the brace. For the other side - is LED 16 or LED 17 directly on the brace (counting from the bottom of the ring)? Or does it even matter?
Thanks - I had to make a few changes to the _clkmode and _xinfreq to match Cluso's card and things are working.
I ran the ISD_Card_Profiler.binary file and saw nothing on the SD card and no blinking on the LED. I loaded a very basic program into the EEPROM:PUB Toggle dira~~ repeat !outa waitcnt(3_000_000 + cnt)Complies and loaded into EEPROM fine. The LED blinks as expected. Can you attach the source for your debug programs?Any idea about why I am not seeing anything with your ISD_Card_Profiler.binary?Thanks!
When using the AllOnAPA102 Binary - does it simply turn all LEDs on or does it work using the Hall sensor with the magnet. I am not getting any LEDs on either way. Just looking for where to start troubleshooting......
Looking at the schematic shown in Step 7: the Hall sensor shows one pull-up tied between the 5V and the Output. The second pull-up resistor is tied to 5V and the other end 'disappears' under the propeller board. Where is it connected?

All good - motor running - on the propeller configuration and then the final assembly.
Just starting to build the globe - finally got all of the parts. I have a question on positioning the LEDs on the wheel. I understand the odd/even configuration and the positioning to offset them on opposite sides. After I glue the LEDs to one side to the wheel does it matter if the offset is up or down on the opposite side? I hope my question makes sense - I've been trying to decide if it matters but thought I'd ask/.
I'm having a tough time finding the LED's in black - your link goes to a white PCB model - poking around I can see the black PCBs but never a product code or link. I am using link to AliExpress. Any other ideas?Thanks
