Love your work! I have done this, also used empty paper towel rolls, empty TP rolls, and finally my favorite, garden fabric (folded similar to your design, with a bit of hot glue). You might like the "air pruning" method with your tomatoes. google it, seriously worth the time. Promotes huge, health roots. Best of luck!

I think this is very cool and cute! Have you considered using small solar panels? I built as small photovore kit that is tiny like this, but uses pager motors for legs. I am definitely going to add your bot to my buggy not collection. Thanks for sharing!

I have done something similar for scoring. I simply cut a 2x4 to the height I want to score, also factoring in the thickness of the glass cutter. Then I clamp the board and glass cutter to my bench. I score the bottle by pressing it gently to the cutter and turning the bottle by hand. I have had great success, even with square and odd shaped bottles. Additional benefits include ease of setup, and not having to store a rig that may not be used very often. Although I admit that I do hang on to the 2x4 pieces.
I have seen a guy use silicone rings on each side of the score line to focus the heating and cooling. If anyone knows of a source for cheap silicone rings please post it here. ALSO, you should consider adding a little water to whichever grinding method you use. The dust may not seem very noticable, but it is there and very bad for your lungs, eyes, etc. I use a flat lap grinder with a steady stream of water. Not only does this cut the dust, it also controls the heat generated in the grinding process.

With a little modification, you could glue the outside scrubber to a short dowel, the use an electric screwdriver to make it spin while you clean. You might need square magnets though.
