Yes, and they are great for applications where a more conventional compressor loop can't be used (e.g. vibration issues, size limitations etc), but they are not as efficient, so in terms of practicality their utility is currently limited to those applications. As they improve though, they are seeing larger and larger deployments. If they get efficient enough I could see them replacing compressor loops entirely, which would be nice.
Current Peltier devices aren't very efficient, that point has been already made by others. However there are a few developments in the lab still to create more efficient junctions, so at some point this may become feasible as a real thing down the road, rather than just a tech demonstrator.

Correction for step one, the locally generated key pair shows up in the same directory as known_hosts, but is not appended into the file (which is generally keys collected from remote hosts). Filename is (for ED25519) id_ed25519 and id_ed25519.pub for the private/public pair, similar for rsa: id_rsa id_rsa.pub
