I have found in past experiments with moulding paper pulp into building blocks that adding partial cans of old latex paint to the mix helps it bind without any other binder, even paint that has a solid layer on top of liquid! I also used strickly portland cement with the pulp and that wasn't bad. Some of the best used a small amount of old latex paint mixed with portland cement. I did not measure the binders but that would have been the next step if I had pursued it more. What about adding some latex and/or portland cement to some fine clay? The clay might fill in any gaps in the pulp while the choice of binder would solidify it more?I also found that the pulp and portland cement test blocks were very fire resistant! Will D.

  • I really like the design of the locking mechanism & plan to replicate it for a spear point I plan to install on my hollow thin 1" metal walking stick (EMT). I will round the base of it to just fit inside the pipe a couple inches then use a removable pin (the kind with the little ball & spring on one end) to affix it to pole. Instant spear for whatever purpose, probably sticking feral hogs plus defense to ward off feral dogs or even a feral human if need be? ;-)

  • length of coax not as important as distance between outside and inside antenna. I you read up on commercial units. Another way you might accomplish this is to change your outside omni-directional antenna to more of a directional one by shielding side of antenna facing internal antenna with a foil sheet grounded to the external shielding of coax wire. Perhaps a copper wire extended into the water then attached to shielding might help but just a guess. Of course if you are stationary then commercial AC grounding wire would be best. Another thing, which you do not address is if your boat is mobil? In this case distance is your only option between antennas perhaps by using a pole extension and outside antenna would need omni-directional configuration because you could not guarantee you had …

  • +JanusR1, you misspelled "Windows"! It should be Win-doz! I switched to Linux 4 years ago and haven't looked back! Oh, and I no longer get freeze ups or black screen of death! And most important, no viruses so I don't have to run virus software!!
