Great looking ceiling! Have you ever been to Hearst Castle? I could be wrong, but I believe It's got the largest collection of European ceilings in the western hemisphere. Some are more simple, some are almost Sistine Chapel awesome. Seeing them in person might give you more inspiration. (not that I'm saying you need more inspiration) examples: http://imgur.com/a/NpDXr
Nice build. For those that want something a bit tougher a guy sells one called the RUCAS on ebay. It's the rocketship of this design.
I'm happy to see you made your "flimsy cheap thing" into a decent BBQ/smoker. I've always believed good BBQ can be made on the worst equipment with a bit more thinking outside the box. Instead of using mesh that's galvanized you can buy expanded steel then cut it and bend it to fit your needs. I did this for my smoker to make a "charcoal box". It cost me about $20 and is sold in big home improvement stores as a "pet screen" for sliding screen doors. Tin snips will cut it, but an electric cut off wheel is easier. The resulting pan will be loads tougher and last you for many many years.
Very cool design. I hope you sterilized your pallet, especially if it was used in the food industry. A pretty high percentage of wooden pallets contain bacteria like e. coli. I'm no expert on the matter, but you may want to include a warning.
Looks great! Add a drip system to it and you've got a low maintenance herb hive.
