Very timely. I've been looking at something like this for awhile. One comment though. You might notice its height will cause 'tip over' issues. You have a small footprint and a long height. I have run into this before. A bigger piece of wood on the bottom--a bigger footprint--would make that much more stable when pushing it around.

Thanks. It looks like there is a 5v and Vin and GR on that Lilypad. I have some 2032 batteries and holders. Bet it might work. I would have to reDesign the holder. Not that much of an issue.
Really nice. Thinking about this for my high school CAD/Fabrication class. Question. What powers this? I do not see a battery?
Worked with my students to 3D print this. We changed it up a bit. For instance the Flywheel. But it worked.
Thanks for that. Ive done some asking around and have discovered that the 'newer' RC cars have 2.4hz frequencies. You can use as many cars as you wish with these it seems. Some of those cars are in the <$80 range which is Ok with me. Looking at local hobby stores for these or Amazon. I will try to get a local foundation grant for $400ish. If I do I will try to organize this and attempt it near the end of the semester this year.
Just saw this and my wheels are turning about how to use this in my CAD classes and allowing my HS students to use our 3D printers with this. One question. If there are 3 channels how do you incorporate more than 3 cars? Won't the frequencies overlap? Would like to do more than 3 if I can.
Did not read all the comments about the 1/2in boards. But, 1/2in baltic birch would be a good alternative.
BTW that looks like a Fat 50 cal. ammo box. Probably 12-3/4" x 7-1/4" x 8-5/8". Which will work. Other ammo boxes are about 4in wide and thats too small.
Im in the process of making one. Question. It looks like you could just do one side and make it flat for a wall or outside on your house. Wondering if this might work. Nice project.
Very nice. Very nice. One suggestion. I have a small sand blaster in my shop. I have connected a 5hp ShopVac to it. You could do that also. Why? It gets cloudy in there sometimes. The Vac will help with that.

Im a high school technology teacher. I teach CAD, Welding, Small Engines plus we have 2 MB+ printers. We have been thinking about a quadcopter build and we really like yours. However the problem I see-for my students- is not the physical build but assembling, connecting, soldering, & troubleshooting the electronics. Do you have instructions, pdf, vids on that? We would like to build it but high school students have NO idea about any of the electronics on quadcopters. Thanks
