These IBCs (in that their original purpose is to dispense fluids) have a drain valve down the bottom (shown in one of my photos)I decided to chlorinate the water with chlorine tablets in a floater. Depending on whether or not you plan to heat the water, you care strategy may vary (bromide for spa water)
Absolutely brilliant mate!I think you've taken this concept to another level with the whole "built-in" look and the insulation (That's Scotland vs Australia I guess...haha)
Hi!it would be cosy and intimate, but yes. Dimensions are 100cm x 120cm
Hi there, absolutely. It's all standard swimming pool equipment, so you could easily plumb in an electric heat pump. if you look at my photos you'll see some pipes running up the wall, with a diverter valve fitted. i had this one plumbed up for rooftop solar heating.I have seen a hot tub version where the builder created a firebox out of an old gas bottle and then simply ran a copper coil around it. The lower end was a water inlet and the the other was an outlet. As the fire heated the water, it pushed it's way up the coil and back into the hot tub
Hi mate,As I mentioned in the Indtructable, it was a 1/4 hp (horsepower) pump. For the volume of the vessel, it did pump the water rather energetically if I recall. You could also fit spa jets instead of pool jets if you wanted a massage effectCheers and thanks for reading!
The jets and pipework were all supplied to me by a friend who installs pools for a living, any pool shop will be able to help you. Generally, you'd want your suction jet as low as possible to prevent scavenging if you water level drops and your provision jets should be up top, to optimize water cycling but also at a height that keeps them below the water line
That will look awesome :) You're still using pallets for the frame though?
Awesome man! You could do a heated one using a copper coil :)
Do it man! :D
Fundamentally, this actually functions exactly like a pool. It runs at colder temperatures with only solar heating to warm it up. It is chlorinated with pool chlorine and it runs a pool pump with sand filter. :)Your idea about using two of them would be do-able but you would REALLY need to reinforce the long sides of the frame. You could probably plastic weld the pods together but then, as you said, you'd most likely need to line it. With regard to the liner looking "skeevy" (lol), that photo was taken before the whole thing was scrubbed and sanitized. You could eat your dinner off it after I was finished :)
Awesome! No worries :)If you go ahead and do it, make sure you post yours on here :)
Awesome! Did you post it on here at all?
