Whatever you use, pro tool or soldering iron, melt the base material together. Just add filler whenever needed you have to get the two pieces melted together or it’ll break. Look at the recycling symbol and use same material for filler when needed.
View Instructable »You can reattach the base of the plastic console lid with a plastic welder. I bought one a few years ago and, while pricey, it's extremely effective. Comes with instructions and a supply of various plastic rods. You could get by with a soldering iron and some filler material from the piece you cut out, but the results won't be nearly as clean.https://www.walmart.com/ip/AIRLESS-WELDER-PLASTIC-...https://www.polyvance.com/Plastic-Welding-Rod-1/

Excellent idea. And makes me wonder if one couldn't build a fun gokart using this same technique. wouldn't spin as much but might be fun off road.

Actually just using 12' 2 X 4's and extending the roof an extra 2 feet would be easier and look natural. Cut the ramp to about 4 feet (save 30 of those 100 lbs) and have a nice sitting area.
View Instructable »Excellent design and execution! I would've kept that trailer ramp and made a back porch for outside enjoyment, maybe with a shed roof or awning. Would keep the trailer more secure when traveling or stored by having it cover the door. But that's an addition. The trailer is smashingly good!

A lot of you need to read the responses in these comments a bit more carefully. (Sorry for sounding rude). In my comment regarding the welder I used, I was pretty specific about heating the base material thoroughly. Done properly little to no filler is required. The finish welded surface may be sanded or painted as well as original. Automotive plastics are mostly polypropylene or abs and they are used for specific components although you sometimes find nylon. The only way to satisfactorily repair these is with heat. Nothing will glue abs. The commenter who used acetone to melt abs MIGHT get a good bond, but I haven't had success with that method. JB Weld hasn't worked for me either. Pla used with 3D printers isn't suitable, abs is.Since these parts are manufactured using heat and moldi…

Having endured this problem myself, I purchased a plasic welder kit. Good quality great instructions, but still a soldering iron (with a hole in the foot to push filler rod through) and adjustable heat. Best results with this pro tool are accomplished just as how you outlined it, heat the base material thoroughly and flow the two pieces together, adding filler as needed. Will last as long as it did originally, in my experience. Great job, and saved yourself the $150 I spent on my tool (in fairness it's paid for itself several times over!).

Whatever an arbor press does. I bought one several years ago at an auction for $5, It was a waste because I've been wondering what it's good for all these years! Now I see one use, though every time I've tried to press something with it the machine didn't have sufficient leverage to do much. Guess I was just trying on stuff that was too big.
