Introduction: Valentine Fortune Cookies
what do you get the woman that has [me ha ha ha] everything
how about baking homemade fortune cookies? it is not all that hard but you will need some quick hands!
Step 1: Tools & Ingredients
most of the items you will need are right in your kitchen.
tools : kitchen aid mixer with whisk & bowl
mixing bowl
balloon whisk
teaspoon
tablespoon
cookies
muffin tin
paper
scissors
Chinese to-go box
ingredients: 2 eggs whites
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
3 tablespoon vegetable oil
8 tablespoon white
1 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons sugar
4 teaspoons water
1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
Step 2: Fortune Telling
they are just cookies if there is no fortune.
so all you need is to think up some witty fortunes and use your computer to print them on a piece of paper. then cut them in to individual slips of paper that will fit in to the cookie. no bigger than two inches.
Step 3: Beat the Egg Whites
separate the egg whites and add to the mixing bowl. discard the yolks. add 1/2 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp almond & 3 Tbl vegetable oil. whisk well till the mixture starts to froth.
Step 4: Red Paste
in the kitchen-aid add 8 Tbl white flour, 1 1/2 tsp cornstarch, 1/4 tsp salt, 8Tbl sugar, 4 tsp water & 1/2 tsp red food coloring. beat with the whisk on medium speed till you have made a smooth red paste. remove the mixture from the bowl & reserve.
Step 5: Mix the Mixtures
place the egg white mixture in the kitchen-aid mixer . while the mixer is on medium speed slow add a little of the red paste at a time till all of it is incorporated. then mix on high for about 1 minute. now your batter is ready.
Step 6: Baking
preset the oven @ 300 F
grease the cookie sheet
place 1 tbl batter on the cookie sheet 2 inches away from each other
only bake off 2 @ a time till you get a hang of folding the cookies
set the timer for 10 - 15 minutes till the edges of the cookies start to brown
Step 7: Cookie Origami
now it time to move fast
use a spatula to remove the cookie
place your precut fortune in the middle of the cookie
fold the cookies in half
fold the two corners to meet each other
then place the cookie in the muffin tin, this will insure that it will cool in the traditional shape.
Step 8: Fortune Telling
now that your cookies are cool you can pack them in your to-go box.
now you are ready to give your hard work to your loved one.
happy valentine's day
