Introduction: 1A to 40A Current BOOST Converter for Upto 1000W DC Motor

About: Its all about life hacks, tools, scientific & creativity instructables ~ electron7m

Hi !

In this video, you will learn how to make a current booster circuit for you high ampere DC Motors upto 1000W and 40 Amps with transistors and a center-tap transformer.

Although, the current at the output is very high but the voltage is gonna be really low like 3 to 4 volts because of low number of turns in the secondary of the transformer.

Step 1: Intro for High Current Starter Motors

The car or bike starter motors require large amount of current to run like 13.33 A to even 1000 A depending on how big they are and in what automobile are they being used.

To run them, high current power supply is required which is not usually available at home therefore, in this instructable, i will teach you how to make it easily.

Step 2: Requirement

1. Center-tap transformer with Step Down High Current secondary.

2. A transformer Switching Circuit (making part here).

3. High Amp Bridge Rectifier more than 40A preferably coz its gonna heat.

4. 32V 1.0 A DC power supply from old printer adapters - 2 peices.

Step 3: Connections :

Connect the switching circuit to the center-tap transformer as shown. After that being done, you will be left with 2 wires from the circuit.

1. center-tap wire of the transformer.

2. common emitter from the switching circuit.

Now, connect the common positive from the printer adapters to the center tap wire and the -ve to the common emitter.

As soon as you will turn on the supply, the transformer will create a hissing sound which that the circuit is working.

Now connect the rectifier to the secondary of the transformer and it will start producing DC at 40 A max.

You can now connect your heavy amp loads to it.

So Guys, that's all for today's instructables.

Thankyou !
