Introduction: 3-ingredient Homemade Tofu
Why make tofu when you can buy it? That's because of the satisfaction you get out of making your own tofu with just 3 basic ingredients (no extra preservatives!). It is fresh, light and tasty!
You can use this homemade egg silken tofu as a side dish, main meal as well as in soups. My favourite dish is steamed tofu in egg omelet, topped with shredded cucumber and carrot, drizzled in prawn paste sauce (also known as Rojak sauce). I also use it for soups, sukiyaki, mapo tofu.
INGREDIENTS
- 5 eggs
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 500ml unsweetened soy milk
Step 1: Prepare Tofu Mixture
Add salt to eggs cracked into a bowl and beat thoroughly. Add eggs mixture to soy milk and mix well.
Step 2: Prepare for Steaming
Sieve mixture into bowl lined with cling film and cover with cling film.
Step 3: Steam & Serve
Steam on medium heat for 10-15 minutes. Test whether tofu is fully cooked using a toothpick.

My wife loves this stuff. Whether it's tofu or not makes no difference to her. I wouldn't eat it if I were starving!

Tofu is the reconstituted protein from soybeans. Saying this is tofu is like grating cheese into eggs, steaming it and calling it cheddar.

Thank you for that correction. I make my own tofu and this is certainly NOT tofu!

Hi there. This is egg silken tofu, which is one amongst the many types of tofu available. As the recipe is designed to be simple, the mixture is simply steamed to produce a result similar to what is often used in Asian cuisines. Hope this clarifies!
