It originally means red wood, extension meaning is minium.

Step 2: Step 2: Innovative Interpretation

朱/zhu/ stands for color red, which is particularly meaningful in China. In ancient times, China red is one color for a orientation. Each oritention has its own guarding animal, vermilion bird of the south, turtle and snake of the north, dragon of the east and tiger of the west. The vermilion bird is the leader of all the birds, color red. And it will reborn from the fire, which is the same as the legend of phoenix says. The vermilion bird itself tells a story of nirvana.

Step 3: Step 3: Design

In order to present character 朱, I want to apply an image of the vermilion bird reborns from fire, it wins in a death trial and becomes stronger and stronger after a fire baptism. The story of vermilion bird conveys the spirit of self-sacrifice, self-cristism, continue persuing and self-development. This is what I want to express 朱.

Step 4: Step4: 3D Modeling

With the help of plasticine, I successfully built up the image of the bird. However, during 3D modeling of the wings, it is quite challenging for me to buidling up a flapping one. So I would like to have your advice to get it more vivid.
