Introduction: 7-up Biscuits

I have been using this method to make quick and easy delicious biscuits, and after many request I have decided to post the recipe here.

There is a bonus baking mix recipe for those that don't believe in using boxed baking mix like Bisquick or other brands.

Step 1: 4 Simple Ingredients

You will need

2 cups of baking mix (bisquick) or from scratch.

1/2 cup of 7-up

1/2 cup of sour cream

1/4 cup of butter.

Step 2: Mix in Bowl

Mix the 2 cups of baking mix, 1/2 cup of 7-up, and 1/2 cup of sour cream in a large bowl.

Step 3: Fold and Knead

Fold a knead the dough. Add small amounts of baking mix to coat outer layer of dough until it reaches a desired consistency. It should be fluffy and slightly firm not sticky.

Step 4: Roll Into a Log

Coat a cutting board or counter top with baking mix so your dough will not stick. Roll dough into log. Cut biscuit size rounds. You can also lay flat and cut using a round cookie cutter.

Step 5: Grease Pan

Using the 1/4 cup of butter grease pan. Melt remaining portion of butter and pour into bottom of the pan to coat evenly.

Step 6: Place Cut Biscuits in Pan

Take the cut biscuits and place them evenly in plan. Portions should be enough for 12 biscuits.

Step 7: Bake

Bake in oven at 425 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 8: Eat and Enjoy

Add butter, or jam and enjoy.

Step 9: Bonus Baking Mix Recipe

9 cups Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
5 tablespoons baking powder
1 tablespoon salt
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 cup vegetable shortening (or coconut oil)

In a large bowl, blend together the dry ingredients. With a fork or your fingertips, cut or rub in the vegetable shortening until it is evenly distributed and the resulting mixture looks like cracker crumbs.

Place the mix in a large, airtight container or divide it into pre-measured 2 cup portions using zip lock bags.

If you decide to include whole grain flours in your baking mix for a healthy spin, you are introducing the perishable oils that come from the germ of the grains that may deteriorate at room temperature. Mixes made with whole grain flours will best be stored in an airtight container in the freezer.
