Introduction: All Natural Lip Gloss
This 100% all-natural tinted lip gloss is easy to make, it's healthy, shiny and good for your lips! If you are missing an ingredient or if you are allergic to an ingredient, please substitute it for another all-natural alternative. If there is an oil used here that you don't want to use, just replace it with another oil. The recipe is flexible!
Step 1: Materials Needed
- 2 teaspoons of Beeswax (pearls - or use a grater to shred it)
- 3 teaspoons of cocoa butter or shea butter
- 1/2 teaspoon of castor oil
- 1/2 teaspoon of sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon of vitamin E oil
- essential oil of your choice for a nice scent
- containers to pour your gloss into - anything will do (even little altoids holders)
- to tint the gloss - use a slice of lipstick (the stuff I used was all-natural lip stick)
Step 2: Making the Lip Gloss
With the small amounts of ingredients being used, this batch will make at least a few lip glosses. It varies depending on the size of your lip gloss containers. You can increase the batch easily - by doubling or increasing all of the ingredients proportionally.
You'll need to fill up a pot with water, place it on the stove and let it simmer. Then take out a glass jar. Take the beeswax, cocoa butter (or shea butter) and place into the glass jar. Once the water on the stove is simmering, take the glass jar with the wax and cocoa butter and place that into the water carefully. See image for demonstration. I used a wooden skewer stick to mix this as it was melting. Once melted, then add the oils into it, mix it. Then take out your lipstick and slice a piece off of it and put that into the melted mixture in the glass container. Quickly remove it from the heat.
At this point, at the very end - you'll add drops of essential oil to give it a good scent. I used grapefruit essential oil on mine. I made some white lip balm for my son (I used less oil - for less shininess) and I used wintergreen scent for his. He loved it!
Now, carefully pour your melted mixture into lip balm containers. For containers, I purchased some from Walmart in the travel section (cheap) and also re-used some old eye shadow containers.
When pouring into the containers, whatever you do - just be carefully not to burn yourself. Let the lip gloss cool and harden up a bit - either by letting it sit out or you can place it in the fridge! And, you're done!!!
Enjoy! The lip gloss made with this recipe produces a very shiny nice looking gloss.

Yeah in the past I would have made that also - used to use vaseline on my lips everyday. Just trying to switch to some more natural products! :) I love this stuff!
