Introduction: Apple Cake in Rice Cooker
what if I don't have oven? I can still eat a yummy cake :D. well in a RICE COOKER. Today is the last date for apple contest. So I thought to make upside down apple cake.
make sure to read remarks in the last step
Step 1: Ingredients
-2 apples sliced in 8 pieces each
- 3 tbsp white sugar for caramelizing
- 2 tbsp butter or 1.5 tbsp ghee
for cake batter
- 2 eggs
- 70 grams maida.( all purpose flour)
- 50 grams sugar ( its better to use less)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 3tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp white sugar for caramelizing
- 2 tbsp butter or 1.5 tbsp ghee
for cake batter
- 2 eggs
- 70 grams maida.( all purpose flour)
- 50 grams sugar ( its better to use less)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 3tbsp butter
Step 2: Peel Apples
and cut into 8 wedges each
Step 3: Process
In a non-stick pan, heat gently 2 tbsp butter, add the apples, toss them around a little and let cook at medium heat for about 5 minutes. Add 3 tbsp cane sugar, mix delicately and let cook until caramelised
Step 4: Adjusting
Grease the ricecooker’s bowl with a drop of oil and pour the apples and all the remaining caramel into the bowl. Arrange the apples to cover the bottom of the bowl.
Step 5: Cooking
Then put together 70g (1/2 cup) all-purpose flour with 50g (1/4) cup granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon baking powder, a pinch of salt, 3 tbsp melted butter and two eggs, mix well and pour this batter over the apples, covering them completely. Switch on the cake and cook.
Step 6: Unmolding
after cooking the cake, allow it to cool in the mold for 20 minutes, and unmold delicately on a serving plate.
Step 7: Remarks
1.I did put the lid on.. but not sure if it works without lid or not.
2.The batter is pretty less as compared to the apples.. it only makes a thin base. ( i might try doubling the batter next time)
3.And for us the sugar was alot.
